January 25, 1989 - October 12, 2004

A result of our very first litter, "Sparkle" was a delight.  Her name couldn't have suited her more, she just, well...she sparkled!  With novice handler, Pete, at the end of the lead, she won on her quality; she was moderate, solid and moved effortlessly.  She smiled going around the ring, she loved it!  She had quite a fan club, and breeders still talk about her in glowing terms.   At home, she was our constant companion along with her littermate, Am/Can Ch. Laureate Search Party, "Hannah".  She was truly special, she was much loved and she is deeply missed.

"Sparkle" was Canada's Top Sheltie and
Number One Conformation dog in the Herding Group for 1995!

Sparkle is the all-time top breeder-owner-handled Sheltie in Canada.

She won multiple Bests in Show and multiple Best in Specialty Shows.

Other highlights of her show career were winning:

Best of Breed: CSSA National Specialty 1994 (pictured with Judge Barbara Linden)
and Award of Merit: ASSA National 1996

Sparkle at nearly fourteen years of age...she was still beautiful!

"Although Sparkie had a very successful career, it was fairly short.  It was disappointing when she lost her eye that we couldn’t show her in veterans.  Even just recently watching her move in our yard, she still put a lot of youngsters to shame.  But what I will miss the most is her sweetness and total devotion.  Every day, she was like a ray of sunshine.  Having friends with such short lives makes us appreciate our own lives and pushes us to make the most of it."
